Theatre I

What do we do in Theatre I?

In Theatre I, 7th and 8th grade students are introduced to all areas of theatre in a fun and engaging way. While we perform in class for each other, we do not put on a major production for the public. Students will explore a variety of theatre topics including ensemble building, acting, pantomime, readers theatre, improvisation, monologues, puppetry, theatre history, tech theatre, and playwriting. By the end of the course, students will have a general knowledge of theatre and be ready to move on to Theatre 2.

Theatre II

What do we do in Theatre II?

In Theatre 2, 7th and 8th grade students will build on the skills they learned in Theatre 1 and take their theatre experience to the next level. They will delve deeper into acting techniques, character development, and scene work. Students will also have the opportunity to participate in more advanced improvisation, stage combat, technical theatre and script analysis. In addition to classroom performances, Theatre 2 students will work towards putting on a showcase for an audience, allowing them to experience the thrill of live performance. By the end of the course, students will have a stronger foundation in theatre and greater confidence in their performance abilities.

Theatre III

What do we do in Theatre III?

In Theatre 3, 8th grade students will focus on producing a play for an audience. This production-based class allows students to apply their theatre skills in a real-world context. They will take on various roles both on stage and behind the scenes, including acting, directing, set design, lighting, and costume design. Through this hands-on experience, students will learn the intricacies of staging a full production, from auditions and rehearsals to the final performance. By the end of the course, students will have gained valuable insights into the collaborative nature of theatre and the satisfaction of bringing a play to life for an audience.
